Why This Project?
As I embarked on the Offbeatscapes app project, my passion for trekking and exploration ignited the journey. As an avid traveler, I’ve grappled with the intricacies of planning unique and personalized trips. Driven by my own experiences, I envisioned a platform tailored for fellow adventure enthusiasts—a space where the joy of travel planning could be shared seamlessly. Offbeatscapes became my mission: to transform trip organization complexities into an enjoyable process for all wanderers.
Offbeatscapes isn’t merely a technological venture; it’s a reflection of my personal odyssey as an adventurer. The goal? To translate the thrill of exploration into an intuitive, user-friendly interface. Each feature is sculpted with empathy, born from my own quest for accommodations, on-the-fly itinerary customization, and a desire for streamlined booking. In essence, Offbeatscapes embodies my commitment to elevate the travel experience for fellow enthusiasts, ensuring that planning becomes a joyous journey in itself.
Identifying the Problem Space
The genesis of delving into the Offbeatscapes app project emerged from my firsthand encounters with challenges during my travels and hikes.
To validate and expand on these identified problem statements, I conducted extensive research within the domain. This involved interviewing both seasoned travelers, like my friends, and individuals who, while not frequent travelers, harbored a desire to explore and were seeking guidance on how to embark on their journeys.
This approach aimed to uncover a spectrum of pain points, validate existing concerns, and unearth latent needs within the travel and exploration space, forming the foundation for the problem space exploration.
Research Methods
Primary Research
I conducted comprehensive user interviews involving participating users. Utilizing methods such as questionnaires and direct interviews, I gathered valuable insights into their preferences, pain points, and expectations. Additionally, I recorded interviews via Google Meets to facilitate affinity mapping and in-depth research analysis.
For the primary research conducted, the Research Goals were as follows:
-
Problems users face when travelling.
-
Do users prefer booking a travel package online or offline. Why?
-
Level of customization in the offerings.
-
Needs and pain points of travel agent.
-
What does a person with disability thinks while booking a travel.

The Affinity Map visually distills rich user insights from interviews and surveys, creating a comprehensive overview of recurring themes and pain points. Each color-coded section represents distinct user sentiments, providing a clear guide for focused design improvements.

Secondary Research
I conducted a thorough analysis of competitors such as IndiaHikes, Make My Trip, Oxford Travels, and Thrillophilia to understand their offerings and user experiences. This involved documenting key insights and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. The findings will guide the development of Offbeatscapes, ensuring it addresses user needs effectively in the competitive landscape.

Ideation and Wireframing
Throughout the ideation and wireframing phase, I engaged in multiple iterations based on valuable feedback from stakeholders. The collaborative approach allowed for a comprehensive exploration of design possibilities and user flows. The process involved the use of ideation frameworks, visually represented in diagrams, to map out potential solutions and refine them iteratively.
Wireframes
The wireframing stage involved translating ideation into tangible structures. Wireframes were meticulously crafted to outline the skeletal framework of the OffBeatScapes app. These visual representations provided a blueprint for the user interface, allowing for a focused evaluation of the app's architecture and user flow.

User Feedback
Actively sought user input to fine-tune wireframes, aligning them with user needs. Engaged in collaborative Google Meets sessions, sharing screens for real-time feedback. Screenshots document this dynamic process, revealing the user-centric evolution of the design.

Core User Flows
In the Core User Flows section, the primary focus is on delineating the two fundamental user pathways within the app's MVP: the Customization Flow and the Payments Flow. These two flows form the backbone of the app's functionality, enabling users to tailor their travel experiences and seamlessly complete their bookings.
